Facing Crisis – what is your role?

Malaysia is being hit by a “double-trouble”:
(1) The global economic crisis
(2) Political instability.

As young people, we may think that this doesn’t impact us a lot. But if these things are not come to an end, it will generate a deep impact to every one of us.

How do they impact us?

- Economy crisis chain reaction:
o No job -> no income -> no money
o Bank closed -> saving lost -> no money
o No money -> no food -> hunger -> death (ultimately)

- Political instability chain reaction:
o Demonstrations -> riots -> bloodsheds -> curfew.
o Marshall law imposed -> no freedom -> no youth meetings -> no shopping -> no TV -> bound at home.
o No freedom -> despair -> death (ultimately).

All these are the worst case scenario.

So what can we do when we are faced with economic crisis:
- Pray for parents.
- Put God first
- Encourage parents
o Help in housework.
o Don’t demand for stuffs that incurred great spending.
o Spend on NEEDS, not WANTS.
o Live healthily -> save medical bills.
- Spent less.
o Reduce SMS and long phone chat.
o Safe electricity (use your PC only when necessary, turn off the lights when no one in the room, etc).

So what can we do when we are faced with political crisis:
- Pray and do I.R. for the nation and our leaders(1 Tim 2:1-2).
- Praise and Worship God (Psalm 8:2).
- Read God’s Word, this will bring you inner peace.
- Through God’s Word, learn to see from God’s eye view (Isaiah 55:8-9).
- Never participate in any form of activities that can generate racial riots (Romans 12:19).
- Never complain (1 Corinthians 10:10).

Above all else, let us focus on Yeshua (Jesus), the author and finisher of our faith.

First Outing in 2009 - Slam Dunk

It was a sunny Saturday with blue sky, no clouds, and mild wind. Here we are again, the first outing of year 2009 – Basketball

(Daniel Boey is Shooting)

We have our long-missed friends, Gabriel Khoo and E-Hun, with us. Joshua Robert also invited his friend to join us.

(Dan & Gab)

(Nice try, Gab!)

It was a great exercise. We have fun from 9AM to 11AM. The court has no shaded area, everyone exhausted very fast. The group with Gabriel, Daniel Boey, Joshua Robert, and E-Hun beat the other group (Samuel, Daniel, Mei Wan, and Joshua's Friend) by 10 balls to 7.

(The Boys are Bullying Mei Wan)

(Wow, great defence)

We also celebrated Joshua Robert’s BIG day; but there was no cake, we used our straws as candles and the glass and 100Plus as cake. Blessed Birthday, Joshua.

(Tired...)

Aunty Tan

At the age of 70 over, our beloved Aunty Tan has finished her job on this earth and went home with the LORD on the 2nd of January, 2009.

Being a so called "single-talent" servant, Aunty Tan has become our role model as she has successfully multiplied her talent to many more.

A faithful servant who never missed any HF and Church meetings, surely, she is now be with the LORD, no more pains, tears, and sorrows. Glory to God.

Our talent is from God and we are commanded to multiply it for God and God alone.

Moving boxes on Boxing Day

Christmas week is full of events for BOG YAFL. After all the makans and minums, it’s time to do some work and help our leaders.

(Daniel & Mei Wan's stuffs)

Daniel and Mei Wan’s house is finally ready, so are we (the movers). The mission is to move out the barang-barang from the old house at U Garden 6th Floor to the new condo unit at 16th Floor. Both new and old condominiums are less than 1 Km apart.

(Here's the old block)

(Here's the new block)

The truck drivers and movers came at around 10:20AM. The moving work starts at about 10:30AM, with the first batch of the youth group start the migration work (Jimmy Lim, Samuel, Lyndsey, Yvonne, Silas, and Stephen).

(Stephen is ready to start work)

(Don't worry, I'll do it)

The second batch of the youth group (Jia Ming, Daniel Boey, Rachel Ann, and Simon Peter) came at about 10:50AM on another Innova (with Jimmy and Joanne onboard) and thus speedily vacated all the barang-barang out of the old unit at around 11:05AM.

(Second Batch movers completes the migration work)

Some stunning discovery, a long lost NIKE shoe was found during the house moving.

(Found a NIKE shoe that has been reported lost quite long ago)

At the new block, once the youth moved some stuffs to the 16th Floor, we never see them come down so quick anymore as they were all amazed at the superb view at the new house. Rooms are beautiful, kitchen cabinet is nice, and beautiful bathrooms. Just like a 5-Star hotel.

(Master Bedroom)

(Bathroom)

(Living Room)

Pastor and Aunty Joy came with tons of food (KFC, Sushi, bread, Pepsi, RootBeer, and others). Yummy.

We left the house at around 1PM. Thank God for the smooth migration.

(After a full meal, let's take some rest)

Extravagant Night (Dec 24)

(A New Look on BOG Stage)

It was really an extravagant night seeing visitors coming from all races and religions joined together to hear the Good News. With 3 languages (English, BM, and Chinese) ran together, the message was loud and clear. Praise be to YHWH, our God.

(Rebecca, Joanne, and with their relatives and friends)

The food was good, the programs were short (no more performance), and there were no over-packed nor under-packed. God made it the perfect number of turn outs.

(Yummy.. I like it)

It was great to see friends like Chiew Yi and others whom have been working on other states, coming back to attend this joyous celebration.

(Chiew Yi, long time no see)

It is good to see youths are putting their words into action, inviting non-Christian friends to attend this wonderful celebration.

(Bernard, Jocelyn, and Mei Wan)

(The mighty waiters and waitresses who serve the drinks)

(We did it! YAY!)

Members Appreciation & Marriage Renewal Night (Dec 20)

Professional Photographers with Professional Cameras.
Homemade Mutton Curry & Homemade Wadai. Yummy :-P..
Abraham and Grace
Wedding Cake

It was a spectacular night with brothers and sisters wearing formal outfit. Five couples in BOG renewed their marriage vow, tons of “professional photographers” using sophisticated DSLR (Nikon, Sony, etc), lots of good food to enjoy. It was really a good dinner that we had.

The dinner starts as early as 7PM and ends at 10PM. Since pastor was also renewing his marriage vow with Aunty Joy, Jimmy Boey has become the host of the day with William Khoo as his translator.

Production Floor

This year's Christmas celebration, the youth are required to prepare presents for the children visitors.

The team did a great job after the luncheon; production started with 4 stages of pipeline: DRAWING, SORTING, CUTTING, WRAPPING.

The entire production took about 40 minutes, and we are done with 50 presents wrapped nicely.

So, we are set then!

YAFL Camp 2008 – NO AGENDA

As Mei Wan declared, “This is, by far most, the best camp ever.” I would agree to it too. It was really a great success. Thank God for all the prayers from the Youth and YA far and near. Also, not to forget the prayers from the church committees as well as the parents who sent their sons and daughters.

(Having Fun at the AI Dam)

The weather was perfect, the food was good, the traffics were smooth, the activities were great, the campers were obedient and submissive, and, in all things, all were VERY GOOD.

This is also the camp that we spent the least effort and time in planning, though it was really scary when come to think about it (everything was floating, you just can’t have a strong and firmed grip on all the events and activities that you are going to lead), but God’s grace is always there. At the end of the day, we have no way to boast our abilities but to give all glory to God. HE is the one who planned it, no us, absolutely NOT US.

(Daniel & Mei Wan on the Kinetic Shuffle)

This year’s outdoor activities:
- Together Everyone Achieve More (T.E.A.M.) at Low Element Area.
- Sand Captain Ball at Low Element Area.
- Photographic Memory (a.k.a. What you get is what you see?) at AI Dam.
- Amazing Race (a.k.a. Amazing Grace for Amazing Race) at AI Dam.
- Paintball Battle (a.k.a. Operation Bukit Minyak) at Bukit Minyak Paintball Park.

This year’s special speakers:
- Bro. Toh Boo Hin (GNC Penang).
- Sis. Amy Goh (BOG Penang).
- Bro. ST Beh (BOG Penang).

We have 3 groups this year:
- FIRE
- LOVE
- REVOLUTIONARY FLAME

(L.O.V.E.)
(FIRE)
(REVOLUTIONARY FLAME)

Every camp will bring campers into closer related to one another, this year’s camp we see the group leaders worked very hard to serve and to pray for the members. At the end of the day, all of them enjoyed fellowship with one another. Let’s pray that this will go on the same after the camp.

(The Girls Are Enjoying the Fun)
(Big Sister, Yvonne, and Hui Ann)

As Christians, we are commanded to bless one another even to people that we don’t know; therefore, all of us prayed for the caretaker team as well as the coordinators of AITC & PBA. We believe the God’s Spirit is touching them even right now. Glory to God.
